Description
Can I analyze RealAudio server log files with FlashStats?

Answer
Sure you can. Just use the LogFormat= parameter to specify a custom log format, as described below:

  1. Open the FlashStats configuration file (FlashStats.ini, or FlashStats.conf). Go to the bottom of the file and add a new line that looks something like this:

    user=RealAudio;password=;url=http://www.domain.com;logs=C:\Program Files\Real\Server\Logs\*.log;LogFormat=Sh??1?qrca

    Modify the values for the user=, url=, and logs= parameters as necessary.

  2. Run a FlashStats report using the RealAudio user account. In the Page To Analyze field change the defaul value ("/") to be just an asterisk ("*"), and make sure that the Pattern Match box is checked. Select your other report options, then hit the Generate Statistics button. The following reports will return useful information:

    • Top URLs Requested
    • Most Common Browsers
    • Bad URLs
    • Types of Domains
    • User Domain Analysis (if you have reverse DNS lookups turned on)
    • Daily Totals
    • Hits Per Day of Week
    • Hits Per Hour
